Great British Escape: Moor to Sea

Whether on foot or by two wheels, a new cycle trail connecting countryside to coast is the best way to explore the hills and heritage of the North Yorks Moors.

Chapter’s recently hosted journalist Tom Hawker whilst he undertook a tour of our local beauty spots. Mr Hawker completed the very popular Roseberry Topping Walk, which is less than 10 minutes away in the car, an area made famous by Captain Cook. Victor & Victoria back at Chapters Hotel and Restaurant…

Chapters Hotel and Restaurant, during September this year, has seen the return of one of their most popular couples. Victor and Victoria Vassallo originally worked at Chapters from March 2005 for four and -a-half years, before deciding to have a change and move to Harrogate.

The couple were originally persuaded to move from Malta by Steven Bell,the current owner of Chapters. After sampling the food and ambience of Victor’s Malta establishment, which had been voted one of the best restaurants in Malta by British Airways Flight magazine, Steven realised this Maltese restaurateur and his talented wife (who trained in Malta under two Michelin-star chefs) were the ideal team to revitalise Chapters.

Chapters Leads the World in Wine Education

Having sold Bells Stores to Sainsbury and bought local Chapters Hotel in Stokesley, Steven has applied the same principal of investing in staff training and development to enhance the customer experience and retain a local, educated and enthusiastic team. It is this forward thinking which led Chapters to become one of only 3 places in the North East to be allowed to run Wine and Spirit Education Trust courses.

Steven himself even gained a qualification in wine to help him better understand the challenges faced by his team and how best to over deliver versus customer expectations.

Albert Bichot Wineries

The Bichot family history in Burgundy stretches back as far a 1350. Their iconic symbol of a deer will be familiar to fine wine lovers around the world. It wasn’t until the 19th Century when the family began to both act as negociants and to produce wine.  In 1831 Bernard Bichot began a wine brokerage in Monthèlie, not far from Beaune.  Wine production began shortly after, with their first shipment to the UK, Belgium and Switzerland arriving in 1840. The family heritage has been passed down from father to son until the present day. Since 1996 Albert Bichot has represented the 6th generation to run the house. They now own 100ha (245 acres) of vineyards across the most famous Crus of Burgundy.

Royal Wedding BBQ

The Royal Wedding all day BBQ proved to be a massive success with locals in Stokesley, and even caught the attention of BBC Radio Tees.

Ultimate Splendor Competition

On Saturday23rd April Ultimate Splendor Competition Winner Gill Bell and her guest from Markse by-the -Sea enjoyed a day out on Chapters Hotel & Restaurant. Her day began at The House, Yarm with lunch for 2, then a personal £200 shopping spree with 50% discount. Next stop, Contemporary salon in Stokesley for a cut and blow dry for 2. To finish off her day they enjoyed a Gourmet Night Package at Chapters Hotel & Restaurant which includes dinner, bed, breakfast & a bottle of Prosecco in their room. An evening with Alistair Griffin

Singer, songwriter Alistair Griffin performed a unique blend of acoustic songs on Saturday 5th February at Chapters Hotel & Restaurant. Alastair has recently began his new album campaign after the BBC featured his latest track “Just Drive” at the end of their coverage of the F1 Abu Dhabi  Grand Prix.

The track got national radio play when Chris Evans, a self-confessed F1 nut, played it on his breakfast show the following morning. It also impressed TV presenter Philip Schofield who,  learnt whose tune it was through Twitter.

Flavours of Hambleton Awards 2010

Chapters Hotel & Restaurant won the highly acclaimed Flavours of Hambleton Restaurant of the year award for the fourth year running as well as picking up the Outstanding Achievement Award.

Steven Bell, Owner of Chapters Hotel and Restaurant would like to thank both the team and our customers for the success. When we won it last year we thought it would be hard for the Judges not to find another restaurant to win the award .So to win it for a fourth year in a row was WOW. We work consistently hard at delivering Great Food and Customer service. “Everyone plays their part in the team to ensure we meet these expectations”.The Front of House, the Hotel, Reception Our creative Kitchen brigade and not forgetting the Chambermaid the team that the customer rarely sees.
