Beaujolais Nouveau Evening – Thursday 18th November
November 16, 2010
At the strike of midnight on the third thursday of every November, France erupts in massive celebration in honour of the unveiling (or should we say uncorking) of the Beaujolais Nouveau wine.
Beaujolais Nouveau, which is a young wine (only 6 weeks old) comes from a region south of Burgundy. The light-bodied and fruity wine must be finished by Christmas with the French government putting in place regulations that delay the wines release.

Whats On North East recently joined us at Chapters for one of our “Gourmet Nights”.
It’s great going out to eat, but a recent visit to Chapters Hotel and Restaurant in Stokesley proved to be something extra special.
Formerly a coaching inn, the hotel dates back some 250 years and its Gourmet Nights – which include an evening meal, overnight stay and breakfast – sounded the perfect way to unwind and relax.
Arriving in the reception area we were greeted by the manager and he instantly made us feel very welcome. First we headed to our room – and what a lovely touch, sparkling wine on ice with petit fours.
The room was spacious with a wonderful mixture of modern and traditional furniture creating a beautifully elegant environment. Then it was time for food. (more…)

The first of many Chapters Wedded Bliss

IT was the hottest day of the year when Helen and Glenn Laville took their vows. After just 12 weeks of planning and organising, the Billingham couple tied the knot in Chapters Hotel and Restaurant in Stokesley, on April 7.
Helen, 26, and Glenn, 39, were the first couple to get married in the 300-year-old listed building on the High Street, which has started catering for civil weddings
“It was fantastic,” says Helen, a Health and Safety inspector. “I have friends who have spent two years organising their wedding and it just seemed too stressful. We knew we wanted something quite intimate and personal. We visited big hotels but it was more like a wedding conveyor belt. We also didn’t want the massive budget and all the years of planning.” (more…)
